Dance Ireland commissions dance specialist Sheila Creevey to undertake research on Youth Dance Outreach: Best Practice Guide.
This project sets out to identify the frameworks in which Youth Dance Outreach occurs and best practice within each mode of delivery. Research will be undertaken through interviews, literary review and field study leading to the publication of a best practice guide.
The purpose of this best practice guide is to provide a quick reference document for the evaluation, assessment and instigation of dance outreach projects. This document will also identify those aspects of this area of research that require further study.
A dance artist, rehearsal director and youth art practitioner accredited by South East Dance and Artswork (UK), Sheila Creevey MA has many years experience as both a youth dance practitioner and dance researcher. As such her knowledge extends beyond the simply pragmatic, instead combining breadth of practice with depth of perspective. She is currently engaged in formalizing a curriculum and syllabus for a national dance education.
