Opened in December 2006, DanceHouse is the result of a joint venture involving Dublin City Council, the Arts Council, McCabe Builders Ltd, with ACCESS funding provided by the Department of Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht, and the Islands. This purpose-built dance rehearsal venue is owned by Dublin City Council and licensed to Dance Ireland. DanceHouse is supported by the Arts Council, Dublin City Council, and has received capital funding from the Department of Arts, Sport and Tourism.
Located in the heart of the north-east inner city, at Liberty Corner, Foley Street, Dublin 1, DanceHouse is part of a complex comprising The Lab, Dublin City Council arts offices, apartments and retail units. Designed by HKR Architects, the venue comprises six dance studios, café space on the ground floor reception area, and a dedicated artists’ resource room.
